Producers compensated average 80% for eligible deliveries

Producers who were not paid for grain delivered to W.A. Grain & Pulse Solutions will receive an average of 80% compensation for eligible claims through the Safeguards for Grain Farmers Program.

In addition to realizing on the security held by the company, the Canadian Grain Commission pursued and obtained payment for producers who held primary elevator receipts through sale of the company’s grain inventory, and also through the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. A total of 126 producers with eligible claims will receive total compensation of approximately $5.6 million for unpaid deliveries

We’ve sent out preliminary claim packages to all W.A. Grain claimants by email or mail. Please review and confirm the details by returning your signed claim forms. If you have questions about your package or haven't received your package, please contact us.

Producers holding Primary Elevator Receipts issued at any of the W.A. Grain elevators prior to April 26, 2021 and who have not filed a valid claim through the Safeguards for Grain Farmers Program must file a claim with the BDO Canada Limited (the “Receiver”) before January 21, 2022, in order to participate in any potential distributions from the receivership.

Licences not renewed

September 1, 2021

Effective September 1, 2021, W.A. Grain is no longer licensed by the Canadian Grain Commission. W.A. Grain’s grain dealer licence and 5 primary elevator licences have not been renewed.

The 5 primary elevator licences have not been renewed for the following locations:

  • Pambrun, Saskatchewan
  • Ponteix, Saskatchewan
  • Vanguard, Saskatchewan
  • Bashaw, Alberta
  • Bowden, Alberta
