Description of service

Whole grain moisture is determined using the Perten AM5200-A moisture meter or by Near-Infrared Transmittance (NIT) FOSS Infratec 1241 grain analyzers. Analyses are limited to existing installed calibrations.

It takes 2 days to complete this test.

Service standard

  • Documents detailing the results of inspection support services are issued within 2 business days after completion of all required analytical testing or inspection results.

Performance target

  • The target for achieving this standard is set at 90%.

Applying for Moisture test - rapid analysis

To submit a sample for moisture testing:

  1. From a 1-kilogram (kg) sample of commercially clean grain, subsample and test a sample of grain using your moisture meter.
  2. Run the subsample through your meter 3 times to calculate an average result.
  3. Return the subsample to the 1 kg bulk sample.
  4. Place the 1 kg bulk into a sealed, air-tight container, such as double bagging using two zipper-type bags.
  5. Send the 1 kg bulk to our headquarters in Winnipeg, Manitoba or to one of our service centres. If you’re submitting a sample to be checked against our master instruments, please be sure to send in your samples to our headquarters in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
