Export quality

Export quality, Western Canadian wheat

Inspection and quality data on exports from the first quarter of a given crop year (August 1 to October 31) may include crop grown in the previous year. Data from the third and fourth quarters of a given crop year (February 1 to July 31) are most representative of that crop year and usually do not include carry over stocks from the previous crop year. These data are generally released a year after a given crop year and are used for historical comparisons.

Methods and tests

Wheat methods and tests used to measure quality

Quality data is compiled from the results of analytical tests performed in the Grain Research Laboratory. These tests are conducted according to standardized procedures and methods. Each time a test is performed on a composite sample, the method for that test is closely followed. That way, results are reliable and accurate and quality data can be compared from year to year.
